Legal Notices

Material from this site may be downloaded for user's personal, non-commercial use only.

ALACTE is providing information and services on this website as a benefit and service to members and potential members.  The information and other contents of this website are provided "as is" and ALACTE makes no representations or warranties about the suitability, reliability, or accuracy of the same for any use or purpose.

Privacy Policy

Throughout ALACTE.net, there are forms for visitors and members to register for conferences, join the association, and request information and services.  These forms may ask for contact information (personal and professional), such as your name, home and work addresses, home and work phone numbers, email addresses, or demographic information such as your location or career discipline (affiliated section).  Contact information from these forms is used to provide services requested.

Personally identifiable information consists of home address, home phone number, and home email address.  You may opt-out of sharing of personally identifiable information with other than national ACTE and ALACTE's affiliated sections by checking the appropriate box on the forms.

All products and services on ALACTE.net are made available subject to this privacy statement.  By using the products and services, you agree, without limitation or qualification, to be bound by this privacy statement.

ALACTE will update this policy from time to time, so please check back periodically.  If at any point ALACTE decides to use personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time it was collected, we would post such changes prior to implementation.

Information Collected:

ALACTE does not gather anonymous user information such as IP address, browser, and platform type (e.g., a Netscape browser on a Windows platform).

ALACTE collects personally identifiable information from three categories:

Members of the Association

Individuals registering for conferences/workshops

Individuals purchasing materials

ALACTE collects information in the following ways:

ALACTE Membership Application: when you join or renew your ALACTE membership, you are sharing personally identifiable information.

Conference/Workshop Registrations: you may be asked for personally identifiable information when registering for specific services, to receive an email newsletter, to receive informational emails, to participate in a listserv, or to subscribe to a publication.

The number and variety of useful services that may require collection of personally identifiable information will continue to grow in the future.

Does ALACTE use "cookies"?

ALACTE does not use "cookies," a small test file containing a unique identification number that is transferred from a website to the hard drive of your computer.  This unique number identifies your web browser, but not you.

Use of the collected information:

ALACTE collects information to provide you with the services you request.  We use the personally identifiable information collected to send you publications, including email, information about member benefits, and conference/workshop information and registration forms.

Personally identifiable information will be shared with ALACTE board of directors, affiliated sections, ALACTE membership team, and national ACTE.  You may opt out of sharing personally identifiable information to any others than those listed above by checking the appropriate box on membership and registration forms.  In that event only work address, work phone number, and work email will be shared.

Check if you do not wish to have your personally identifiable information shared with other than National ACTE or ALACTE affiliated sections.

ALACTE may be required by law enforcement or judicial authorities to provide information on individuals to the appropriate government authorities.  In matters involving a danger to personal or public safety, ALACTE may voluntarily provide information to the appropriate authorities.

ALACTE reserves the right to send electronic mail to you for the purpose of informing you of important information.

ALACTE does not sell membership lists.  Conference exhibitors have access to conference participant's non-personal information.

Protect Yourself!

The opportunity to network in an online community (chat room, message board, etc.) is one of the good things about the Internet, but you should always be careful about disclosing personal information such as name, address, phone, email address, etc.  This information may be collected and used by others within the online community to send unsolicited email messages.

Educate yourself.  Search the Web for as much information as you can about how to protect your privacy.  Look for a privacy policy on the websites you visit.
